Exploring St Clair provides a good base to begin exploring the Var region- part Provence, part Cote D’Azur. Start with Le Lavandou which is just 1.5 km away and you will find a charming old town centre, a marina, a variety of restaurants and nightlife and a busy Provençal market.

Other local towns of note are: Bormes les Mimosas, flowering high on the hill-side above Le Lavandou and Hyères, where the elegant villas and exotic gardens, beloved of Victorian travellers, nestle below the well preserved medieval town. St Tropez, Nice, Monaco, Grasses and Les Gorges du Verdon need no introduction. They all make for memorable day trips, as do the less well-known hill towns and villages.
